Noisy quantum amplitude estimation without noise estimation

چکیده
Many quantum algorithms contain an important subroutine, the amplitude estimation. As name implies, this is essentially parameter estimation problem and thus can be handled via established statistical theory. However, has intrinsic difficulty that system, i.e., real computing device, inevitably introduces unknown noise; probability distribution model then to incorporate many nuisance noise parameters, resulting construction of optimal estimator becomes inefficient difficult. For problem, we apply theory parameters (more specifically, orthogonalization method) precisely compute maximum likelihood for only target parameter, by removing other parameters. That is, estimate without estimating We validate method in a numerical simulation study performance experiment using superconducting device.

Consider a Boolean function χ : X → {0, 1} that partitions set X between its good and bad elements, where x is good if χ(x) = 1 and bad otherwise. Consider also a quantum algorithm A such that A|0〉 = ∑ x∈X αx|x〉 is a quantum superposition of the elements of X, and let a denote the probability that a good element is produced if A|0〉 is measured. If we repeat the process of running A, measuring t...
متن کاملA Two-Step Noise Estimation Algorithm for Noisy Speech Enhancement
Noise estimation is an important part for noisy speech enhancement due to its momentous effect on the intelligibility and quality of the enhanced speech. In this paper, an effective noise estimation algorithm is presented by combining the minimum statistics estimation and Gaussian model assumption. In contrast to other methods, the proposed approach works in two steps. The noise power estimated...
متن کاملSampling, noise-reduction and amplitude estimation issues in surface electromyography.
This paper reviews data acquisition and signal processing issues relative to producing an amplitude estimate of surface EMG. The paper covers two principle areas. First, methods for reducing noise, artefact and interference in recorded EMG are described. Wherever possible noise should be reduced at the source via appropriate skin preparation, and the use of well designed active electrodes and s...

Inverse theory teaches us that the residual, or misfit function, should be weighted by the inverse covariance matrix of the noise. Because the covariance operator is often difficult to estimate, we can approximate it with a diagonal weight that can be more easily computed. This paper investigates the possible choices of weighting functions for the data residual when prediction-error filters are...
